Healing Trauma
Losing and Finding Oneself
Trauma is what is held inside the body after one or more incidents occur injuring the emotions, mind, body and spirit. Often no one else can see the injury but you. Sometimes people feel shame, depression and self-loathing. Sometimes people don’t feel at all. Art therapy and psychotherapy provides a place for the gentle unfolding of experiences in a safe, confidential environment. The art making process is an indirect method to express powerful and intense emotions like rage, terror and fear without being overwhelmed, as the art work contains the emotion.
"Art offers a sanctuary to anyone willing to open their hearts as well as their eyes" Nikki Giovani

Although abuse and neglect are caused by people, it is only by being in healthy relationships with others, that healing can occur. Freeing from isolation starts the process of freedom.
