Trauma is the injury held inside the body after one or more incidents have occured resulting in the emotions, mind, body and spirit being damaged. Often no one else can see the injury but you. Sometimes people feel shame, depression and self-loathing. Sometimes people don’t feel at all. Counselling, ​Art therapy and Psychotherapy provide a place for the gentle unfolding of the pain caused by the experiences in a safe, confidential environment. As the art work contains the emotion, the art making process is an indirect method to express powerful and intense emotions like rage, terror and fear without being overwhelmed.

Pain may originate in the hands of others, but so too does the possibility of repair. As isolation lifts and we encounter relationships that honour our worth, a new sense of freedom and wholeness can start to take shape.
